Workwear Wednesday: Neutral Button Down Dress

Hey all and happy Wednesday… or in this case, Workwear Wednesday! I have been doing this series for quite a few years now, but it dropped off for a while when I was transitioning jobs and figuring everything out!
I currently do not have an office job or a regular “nine to five,” but I do miss workwear a lot, and I still try and wear pieces like this for meetings, clients, and even events. Even though I am not wearing this every day, I still try to be conscious when choosing these pieces, so that it is still something I would have worn to work at some point, or would still wear when I do have another occasion or meeting.

Express has stepped up their game recently, with a lot of new pieces, styles, and looks for women… and they have expanded their size range too! I was not a huge fan of their products for a while, but I have slowly started to come back around to the pieces they offer and the styles they carry.

I saw this dress online while I was perusing the site and I loved that it was midi length (I have been loving midi length dresses lately) and also loved that it had a button down feature. Button down tops are especially hard for me, so I love when I can compromise by wearing the design in dress or even pants form. I also appreciate that the buttons were larger and more noticeable, making them a distinct feature of the dress.

I wanted to keep the whole look a little more neutral and a little more work appropriate. I have been told/ asked in the past to post looks with comfier shoes or easier shoes to walk in/work in. A lot of my other shoes are a bit louder and higher, and a lot of ladies don’t want those for work! I picked these sandals with a low heel, since it is slowly becoming spring and they are super comfy! I then opted for a neutral bag, which does hold a lot of things… except a laptop!

Have a wonderful Wednesday and a beautiful week ahead!

I’ve never worked in a place where I had to wear typical “workwear” but I’d really like to one day, it looks so powerful to me and I love how much fun us women can have with it (men are a bit more boring because suits will always be suits but we can go all out and get creative) and I love the dress you’re wearing, it looks so pretty and feminine.
